7  Notice of demand

Where any levy, interest or penalty is payable in consequence of any order passed under the provisions of Chapter VIII of the Act, the Assessing Officer shall serve upon the assessee a notice of demand in Form No. 2 specifying the sum so payable:

Provided that where any sum is determined to be payable by the assessee under sub-section (1) of section 168 of the Act, the intimation under the said section shall be deemed to be a notice of demand.
